One of the architectural feature of European cities which you simply cannot find in America is the triumphal gate or triumphal arch — an inheritance of the architecture and culture of the Roman Empire. Just about every major city on the European continent that was touched by the Romans has one and many have several such arches.

This is the Siegestor in Munich ("Victory Gate"), edited to make the colors cooler and to have some distressed effects. The inscription reads: "Dem Sieg Geweiht, Vom Krieg Zerstört, Zum Frieden Mahnend". Translated into English, it means: "Dedicated to victory, destroyed by war, in remembrance of peace"
